Based on my own experience, Chinese media only reports positive and uplifting news about China. Usually they involve our prime minister visiting some country, with whom our country made a positive connection. People on the Internet joke that next life they wish to live in Chinese news, as there's never sickness, enemy, problems, and when there is hardship, it can always be overcome. Behind the joke, lies the sarcastic complaint of lack of speech freedom and the fact that the government hides news from the public in order to better control them.
U.S. media is filled with problematic and negative content usually with serious critical thinking, which provides transparency and reliability that Chinese media cannot compare. However, it reports so many negative news, that it is hard to find one piece of uplifting one, which makes the public wonder, is there nothing good happening in the world or my country? And in long-run, it causes depression, anxiety and other mental health issue.
To improve this phenomenon, this blog is dedicated to uplifting news.
1. On April 20th, the United States Department of Agriculture announced to extend free lunch for the next school year in response to provide aid to the 12 million children with food-insecurity.
2. Ember Climate and Carbon Tracker released a report stating that potential renewable energy from the wind and solar is 100 times greater than what the world consumes, which is a positive finding to replace fossil fuel.
Harry Benham, report co-author and chairman of thinktank Ember-Climate, states:
“The world does not need to exploit its entire renewable resource — just 1% is enough to replace all fossil fuel usage. Each year we are fuelling the climate crisis by burning three million years of fossilised sunshine in coal, oil and gas while we use just 0.01% of daily sunshine.”
Our mother nature provides us more-than-enough renewable energy, all we need to do is stop abusing the limited resource and put more effort into exploring those eco-friendly energy.
3. On April 22nd, President Biden pledged to cut greenhouse emission in half by 2030. This act will involve changes in American people's daily lifestyle like transportation and energy use. President Biden states that:
"These steps will set America on a path of a net-zero emissions economy by no later than 2050".
No one knows how this promise will turn out, but it is comforting to know that the President of the most powerful country in the would is taking actions for the environmental crisis.
4. America's biggest coal miner's union indicated that they accept President Biden's pledge and stated that they will stay away from coal, fossil fuel, and other limited resource, instead, they will shift their focus onto mining renewable energy and support technology needed for exploit renewable energy.
